Krups Universal Grill Panini Maker $79.99; bedbathandbeyond.com If storage space is a priority, this sleek grill is the one to choose because the top latches shut, allowing it to be stored upright. The basic functions make it easy to use.

Cuisinart Griddler Grill, Griddle & Panini Press $99.95; williams-sonoma.com This multipurpose grill (above) requires some counter space, but it's a heavy-duty workhorse. Because the grill is flat and opens fully, it can cook pancakes and French toast as well as panini and grilled veggies. The four different grill plates are easy to clean, but can be a lot to store.
