Calling all budding chefs …
Vegetarian Times is looking for the culinary stars of 2010—up-and-coming chefs who can take their talent, skills, and culinary training to create delicious vegetarian recipes.
If you’re graduating from an accredited cooking school this year (January through December 2010), then you’re eligible to enter the
Vegetarian Times Chefs’ Challenge recipe contest, sponsored by Green & Black’s ® Organic Chocolate.
Five winning vegetarian recipes * will be chosen from submissions in the following categories:
Appetizer
Soup
Entrée
Side Dish
Dessert
Submit your recipe(s)
February 8, 2010 through May 1, 2010, and you could win $300 cash, a $100 gift card from American Express, and an assortment of goodies, courtesy of Green & Black’s. What’s more, winners will be featured in
Vegetarian Times, which means a big, bright, glossy jump-start to a career in the culinary arts.
*Recipes will be judged on originality, healthfulness, taste, ease of preparation, and presentation. Any recipe that uses meat-, poultry-, or fish-based ingredients will be disqualified.
The Online Voting Process
Vegetarian Times editors and judges will choose 15 recipe finalists (three in each category). These finalist recipes will be posted on the
Vegetarian Times web site for readers to make, taste and vote on. Online voting is open from
June 30, 2010 through July 30, 2010.
Prizes
The five winning recipes (one for each category) will be featured in the January 2011 issue of
Vegetarian Times, along with profiles of the students/chefs who created them. The creators of the five winning recipes will each win $300 cash, a $100 American Express gift card, and other prizes supplied by our sponsor.
Judging
Readers and editors of
Vegetarian Times will choose the winning recipes. Fifteen finalist recipes will be selected by
Vegetarian Times editors and posted on vegetariantimes.com so that readers can make them at home and vote for their favorites. Winners will be notified in
August, 2010.

The contest is open to culinary students who have graduated or will graduate in 2010 (January through December). The window for submissions is
February 8, 2010 through May 1, 2010.
