Mango-Lime Sorbet

Mango-Lime Sorbet

Serves 6

This silky-smooth sorbet was inspired by the lush flavors of Thailand. Thanks to the convenience of frozen mango chunks, it can be an everyday treat.
  • 4 cups frozen mango chunks
  • ½ cup agave nectar
  • ¼ cup fresh lime juice

Thaw mango chunks 15 minutes. Place in blender or food processor, and purée with agave nectar and lime juice. Transfer to shallow glass or metal bowl, and place in freezer. Freeze 30 minutes. Stir purée every 15 minutes until ready to serve.

This turned out amazing! I added 1 T. Vodka per Cook's Illustrated (aka The Bible) and followed their technique of freezing off 1 C. with the rest in the fridge and combining just before churning for 15-20 min. (See their raspberry sorbet recipe for explanation.) My foodie BFF couldn't believe there wasn't any milk product in the ingredients and made me list them out twice. Yes, That Good!!!

I wish that all these sweet suggestions did not have agave! It gives me terrible headaches, for some reason it is the "sweetener de jour", but it is still fructose. Tried it with reduced honey (1/4 cup), still yummy. More agave-free dished please!

Just made it tonight and I thought it tasted very yummy, and I'm a pretty picky eater. Will definitely make it again! :D

I just made this, and it's absolutely fantastic! A suggestion: an overripe banana in this adds even more nice flavor! Incredibly refreshing, and will totally make it again. :-)
