- 1 ½ cups boiling water
- 3 ½ oz. sesame crackers
- 1 large egg
- 1 10-oz. pkg. frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry

How much fresh split pea soup would you substitute in place of the dehydrated kind? Thanks!
Kristen - 2009-11-11 00:32:10I do love the recipes, however, since a lot of these dishes are new to me and I'd admit, I'm not much of a chef, it would help if you would include some complimentary dishes, breads or sauces, etc.
Bobby - 2009-04-21 11:54:48Day old split pea soup is usually pretty thick. You can always put some in cheesecloth or a coffee filter in the fridge overnight to drain out some liquid too to make it thicker. I prefer to use my own homemade soup too. I will try it!

I think if you used fresh split pea soup, it would have to be quite thick and concentrated or the consistency of the burger wouldn't be correct. I would also prefer to use homemade vs. dehydrated, to avoid the additives & salt in the premade. May take some experimentation.
