Sweet Chili Sauce

Sweet Chili Sauce

Makes 1/2 cup

30 minutes or fewer

Here, honey and hoisin sauce tone down the heat of the sambal oelek sauce.
  • 2 tsp. vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (2 tsp.)
  • 1 1-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled and grated
  • ½ cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 Tbs. honey
  • 1 Tbs. low-sodium soy sauce or tamari
  • 2 tsp. sambal oelek, or more to taste

Heat oil in saucepan over medium heat. Add garlic and ginger, and sauté 2 minutes, or until fragrant. Stir in remaining ingredients, and heat 1 to 2 minutes more. Cool before serving.
