I was working in a kitchen that served meat. It grossed me out.

What’s your favorite veg restaurant, and what do you order there?

Fire-N-Spice in Hartford, Conn. I order their Jerk Fest—tofu prepared Jamaican jerk-style, served with pumpkin rice and garlic greens.

What’s your most treasured piece of cookware?

My TofuXpress tofu press. It makes life so much easier.

What’s your best advice for new vegetarians/vegans?

Make friends with other vegans and share information about local options. Share recipes, cook together, support each other.
