Blueberry Pie Protein-Power Smoothie

Flaxseeds and oats add thickness and extra fiber to this super-satisfying, calcium-packed smoothie.

Beets lend it a deep-purple color, plus iron and antioxidants. If you don’t have cooked beets on hand, you can skip them—the smoothie’s flavor won’t suffer.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain, fat-free yogurt
  • 1 1/2 cups skim milk
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup cooked diced beets
  • 1/3 cup quick oats
  • 1/4 cup (4 scoops) unflavored or vanilla whey protein
  • 1/4 cup ground flaxseeds
  • 2 Tbs. blueberry preserves

Preparation

Blend all ingredients in blender until smooth.
