They say if you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere. Plant-based restaurant group PLANTA is out to test that theory, building on the success of locations in Toronto, Miami, and West Palm Beach with the opening on May 28 of PLANTA Queen in NYC’s NoMad neighborhood.

“We’re excited to finally share PLANTA with the greatest city in the world,” says the group’s founder and CEO Steven Salm, himself a native New Yorker. “We believe the power of plants can change the world, and that power begins with our plates. For our health, for the health of our communities, and for the wellbeing of our planet, plants are key.”
Salm, along with co-founder David Lee, who also serves as executive chef, are bringing that vision to life in the form of a super-chic, 140-seat restaurant with sunny main dining room, bar and lounge area, and an underground space described as the “subterranean dragon’s den.”

Lee’s fully vegan menu features modern, meat-free dishes inspired by Asian cuisines, from General Lee’s cauliflower to spicy “tuna” rolls stuffed with “watermelon ahi.” The udon is topped with truffle cream and shaved fresh truffles for a rich indulgence; a sweet corn dumpling references tom yum and is accompanied by a cilantro chimichurri sauce. Bar options include clever cocktails with and without alcohol, for drinkers and non-drinkers alike.
“We create dining experiences as they should be, an ‘unguilty pleasure,'” says Lee. “PLANTA Queen is bold, dynamic, full of flavor and spice.”
