Compassionate living. It’s not reserved solely for our fellow humans, but for the animals we share the earth with. Since 1981, Farm Animal Rights Movement (FARM) has brought together a diverse group of people bonded in their commitment to animal rights, social change, and sustainable living at its annual Animal Rights National Conference.
The Animal Rights National Conference (AR2017) is the essential event for committed vegans, vegetarians looking to make the leap, and those who are curious about veganism. Fostering change is about more than what you eat or buy—it’s about educating, networking, standing up, and speaking out. This year’s Conference features more than 150 inspiring speakers, including luminaries such as James Aspey of Voiceless365; Carol J. Adams, author of The Sexual Politics of Meat; Bruce Friedrich of The Good Food Institute; Olympic cyclist and animal activist Dotsie Bausch; Ginny Messina, author of Vegan for Life; Jacy Reese, author of The End of Animal Farming (Beacon Press, 2018); and Gene Baur, the founder of Farm Sanctuary. Attendees will be able to meet the event’s speakers during nightly one-on-one networking events, in addition to more than 80 scheduled speeches and panels throughout the weekend.
Other highlights include a public exhibit hall featuring new and innovative vegan products—from clothes with a conscience to animal-free cosmetics and food—as well as a wide range of workshops teaching guests how to put their values into action, including organizing and advocating, fundraising, art and social media, volunteering and donating, and the power of confrontation.
Adopting a plant-based diet is one of the most effective ways you can help to protect the rights of all animals, whether they are on the farm, in the lab, in a pet store, or in the wild. It’s a small but mighty way for each individual to make a difference. Join AR2017 for an inspiring, educational, and delicious weekend among like-minded people!
The AR2017 will take place on August 3 to 6, 2017, outside of Washington D.C. at the Hilton Mark Center in Alexandria, VA. Online pre-registration ends July 17. Tickets are $60-$200 per person. For more information, visit ARConference.org or connect on the event Facebook page.
