On Sunday, June 16, animal and veggie food lovers gathered at the SmogShoppe in Culver City, Calif. for a fabulous afternoon in the Southern California sun to raise money for the Humane Society of The United States.

The event was the first of its kind for HSUS, showcasing delicious fare prepared by celebrity vegan chefs Tal Ronnen and Yves Fournier and hosted by actress and activist Emily Deschanel. The main objective: promoting just how outstanding vegan food can be.

The afternoon featured out-of-this-world dishes starring ingredients from Beyond Meat, Field Roast, Tree Hill Cheese, Upton’s Seitan, and Ronnen’s newest artisanal vegan cheese line, Kite Hill Cheese. Tasty fare was complemented by refreshing beverages by Van Gogh Vodka and Hint all natural flavored water.

In addition to nibbling on gourmet treats, guests bid on silent auction prizes and participated in a fun live auction to score fabulous prizes such as vegan purses, Vitamix blenders, and an exclusive dinner at Ronnen’s Los Angeles upscale vegan restuarant, Crossroads. Proceeds from both auctions benefitted HSUS’s Farm Animal Protection Campaign and Hollywood Outreach Program.

Notable celebrities who came out to enjoy the day were Emily Deschanel, Phillipe Cousteau, Kathy Freston, Seamus and Juliana Dever, singer Hollie Cavanagh as well as actresses Lindsay Pulsipher and Fiona Gobleman, just to name a few.

All in all, the event was a smashing success with lots of fantastic food, sensational sweets, and compassionate people enjoying an afternoon for the animals.
