Raisin-Sauced Pears

This microwave recipe for a spicy sauce or glaze for fresh pears is a quick way to serve them as a side dish.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 tsp. cornstarch
- 1/4 tsp. dry mustard
- 1/8 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup raisins
- 2 Tbs. slivered almonds
- 3 ripe medium Bartlett pears, cored and halved
Preparation
Combine all ingredients except pears in microwave-safe 2-cup measure or bowl. Microwave on high power until slightly thickened, 1 1/2 to 3 minutes; stir twice during cooking. Place pears cut side up in round baking dish, with large end of pears toward outside of dish. Pour sauce over pears. Microwave on high 5 1/2 to 6 minutes or until pears are tender. Serve warm.
